Outside of the molten hot drag strip action, our favorite part of Drag Week were the drives between tracks. Because the route is normally heavily geared towards back roads, we got to see and occasionally taste nooks and crannies around the country we otherwise never would have. Yes, most of our menu was filled with food from places with names like Crappy McFunsters, but there were a couple of shining moments of road food greatness.
The first was at a little roadside fish fry stand in Texas called Buddy’s. Their fried Catfish, hush puppies and fries were damned good and the place was exactly like the fried clam joints that line the roads by BangShift eastern world HQ. Secondly, we scarfed down an amazing hamburger at CJ’s Butcher Boy Burgers in Russellville, Arkansas. These were freshly made burgers served at a place sporting a butcher case that gave a full view of the fresh meat used in making the burgers and all of the ingredients available to customers for adding on. Bacon was part of the program we took advantage in.
In thinking about those meals, we got to wondering what your favorite road trip food or favorite road trip eating spot is. You tell us! Where do you like to mow down on the road?
Question of the day: What’s your favorite road trip food or specific road trip eatery?
