Jay Brown, he of FE engine building, home dyno owning, awesome Ford drag machine fame will once again fly the Blue Oval banner at Hot Rod Drag Week 2012. This time it is an aluminum, 530ci, fuel injected mill that’ll power his car of choice. We don’t know what that car of choice will be in 2012, but his previous entries have included a Mustang and Galaxie so there’s something cool coming. This engine has conventional cylinder heads, not the SOHC type we’ve seen on Jay’s Galaxie in the past.
We’re amped up for Drag Week this year. The tracks are all great places to race and should all be very capable of holding onto everything that the competitors plan on throwing at it. Seeing this engine on Jay’s dyno is a good reminder that we’re closing in on just about a month away from things getting wild in Tulsa. Many competitors are thrashing like Jay, although we’re going to throw a wild guess out there that the majority of dudes are required to load their engines onto a truck to get them to the dyno instead of wheeling them to the other side of their home shop!
Scott Clark has been working with Jay on getting the EFI worked out on this monster and from the looks of the video and the info we have gotten from Scott, it sure looks like they’ve done a nice job of it. 850 naturally aspirated hp out of a 530ci engine? Hells yes!
Press play for some primal screaming out of a 530ci FE Ford!
