When the guys at Airtex told me that Route2Media was coming to shoot a shop tour of their place in Fairfield Illinois, and that they wanted me to come be the host of the video, I was all in. Let’s face it, sounds like a recipe for trouble, and I’m a big big fan of trouble. Plus, they didn’t know it but I had already heard stories about a giant heat treating facility, and a building full of gasoline and running fuel pumps. Sounds like my kinda recipe for fire baby! I was pretty sure that if a giant explosion was reported in the midwest, I probably pushed the wrong button.

Airtex is a brand you probably know from shopping at your favorite auto parts chain like Autozone. They manufacture fuel pumps for virtually every car on the road today. From mechanical to electric replacements, and each one is designed and manufactured here in the USA. We dig that. We also love the fact that they are constantly improving the factory part to address design flaws, recalls, etc that came from the OEM. Each pump is tested a jillion times, is manufactured precisely, and performs. Guaranteed! We couldn’t have been more impressed by the facility and the people at Airtex. If you are looking for a factory replacement pump for your vehicle, Airtex is BangShift Approved.

And to make installing a late model in-tank electric fuel pump something that Joe Blo feels comfortable with, Airtex has created Fuel Pump U where you can go and get instructional video, support, and information that will make it an easy job for the do-it-yourselfer. And their tech support phone line rules. In fact, when we had a fuel level gauge issue in the $200 Hauler, we called in and got Richard who totally fixed us up WITHOUT us having to buy a new fuel pump and sender. Cool huh?

You can check out all you ever wanted to know about installing and maintaining your fuel pump at WWW.FUELPUMPU.COM along with all the information on parts for your vehicle.

And don’t forget to comment at the bottom of the blog item. In fact, tell us what we “should” have done on the tour and we’ll see if we have outtakes that match. LOL Oh, and also check out all the safety warnings in their videos…how many of you idiots are like me and have broken each of those rules at one time or another. NOT GOOD
