It's the ultimate drag racing party foul, running over the Christmas tree. Aside from being rare and usually pretty spectacular, it is a major pain in the ass for the track personnel. Once the tree gets wiped out, all the glass from the light bulbs needs to be cleaned off the track and if there was damage done to the electrical hook-ups, it can take hours to get another tree working properly. Clutch explosions are among the most horrific examples of automotive component failures. Few things attached to a car have the ability to cause more instant carnage, to things both mechanical and human, than a fast spinning clutch that comes apart. Many have been killed over the years at the race track and potentially even on the street when clutch discs, and pressure plates have become literal 8,000 RPM saw blades.
