While Smokey Yunick died more than 11 years ago now, his legend continues on and will for generations. We got tipped off to this truly awesome video by our pal Elana who said that it was must watch stuff. She was right. In this video Yunick is making an acceptance speech after being inducted into the Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame in Daytona Beach, this is an HoF run by the local Rotary club and is not (as far as we know) connected to NASCAR directly.
Yunick is on his stuff in this one. His cracks are hilarious, his language is not exactly work safe, and his sincere appreciation for what others did for racing during the years when NASCAR was getting off the ground is genuine. There’s not much more to say here other than that this is 10-minutes of 100% pure gold.
