I had a pressure gauge on my Corvette - it came with the EZ Efi system. It ruptured, and then broke the face and leaked fuel. Fortunately, the only thing destroyed was the gauge; but now I'm worried - do these gauges fail often? I'm not moving the regulator to a safer location, and honestly, I set the pressure and forget it - so I can't imagine the need for a gauge to be on there 24/7....

or am I just worrying too much because I got a bum gauge?

I have an old truck with a Quickfuel carb on it. I also have an AEM wideband that just got installed. The engine is running rich (11.8-12.5:1) by just glancing at the readout while driving, but I have no numbers written down to correlate to RPM or vacuum. I want to tune the carb to the best performance I can get both on the track and off. So what should I work on first? I have it idling at 1100 RPM fairly decently, but I am not sure what I should work on first. This truck will be on Drag Week this year (hopefully). However, I have not done any track testing yet either. So- should I work on road manners or track? And what circuit should I attack first? What is the strategy that you use?

Working on my 84 mustang that is swapped to 87 efi. Te car runs great other than it needs timed. Here is my problem. I can put on 50 miles a day for a week or so no problems. Drive home from work. Change and go back out and nothing. At first I thought fuel pump relay. Turn the key nothing. I can jump the wires and get the pump to work but won't fire. Did some googling and came up with EEC relay. Power from EEC to fuel pump makes sense. I swapped the EEC relay and car starts right up.

Now here is the question. What is making the relay trip or quit? It will run fine then nothing. Possible ground? It gets power through fuse able link off of starter silenoid.

Just thinking aloud.

Ok, so jury rigging a starter repair doesn't last, and it doesn't seem to me that a Goodwrench crate 350 motor is particularly worth saving the block on. While I have half a mind to cut my losses and sell the truck as-is, the other half is to swap in something newer and injected. (Pulling the motor to put an identical one back in it just doesn't seem right.) But what motor? I'd want EFI, am not particularly concerned about wiring, but want something that doesn't take too much fabrication to swap. And would still be a perfectly good truck motor.

Here's what I have been thinking:

TPI - fairly cheap, and often called the best truck motor never put in a truck.

LT1 - Hmmm, it's not much more expensive than a TPI, and still keeps the stock motor mounts...

5.3 or 6.0 LSX - Looks like it would take a bit more parts, and a bit more expense, to swap it in.

8.1 Vortec - With its LS1 style ignition, and symmetrical port heads stuck on a regular BBC casting, it may be something of a Rat bastard. But it's not especially expensive, and a step up from a 350.

What would you do if you wanted to stick a new EFI motor in this truck on the cheap?

I've been pondering towing the Dart if the turbo build turns out to be a bit un-streetable, although it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up at least...

I've been pondering towing the Dart if the turbo build turns out to be a bit un-streetable, although it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up at least as good a street vehicle as my C10 currently is. :) But in case it doesn't, I have been wondering whether it would make sense to flat tow it with a tow bar, or use a trailer. The Dart will probably have a final weight of around 3,000 lbs. I can see several advantages to flat towing:

Much less weight being pulled around.
Less affected by crosswinds.
Lower cost.
Less drag should make for better towing mileage.

The disadvantages I can think of:

No trailer brakes - but the lack of weight could offset that.
I'd have to remove the driveshaft (automatic transmission) to tow.
If something in the suspension breaks instead of the drivetrain, it would need a trailer anyway.

Is there something I'm missing? I don't see many racers flat towing their cars, so there may be something I've overlooked here.

Hello,
I'm installing my 350 vortec crate engine and am looking at the Lm-2. The problem is they have 3 "kits"
(listed below)
At first this engine will have a carb. but down the line I'll be looking at adding efi either to this intake or run the vortec spider intake (that be another thread).
The question is what "kit" is really needed as the price points are 300.oo apart, but I don't want to outgrow it and buy a 2nd one, or try to buy the add on parts to find they've been disco'd.

The LM-2 is available in three different kit configurations:

1) The LM-2 "Basic" Kit (Single Wideband O2) includes the LM-2 meter, Bosch wide-band oxygen sensor, 8 ft sensor cable, cigarette-lighter power adapter, USB cable for PC connection, weld-in bung and plug, LogWorks software CD, and quick-start guide.
P/N: 3837, MSRP $349

*Note: The LM-2 "Basic" Kit out of the box only includes accessories to display your Air/Fuel Ratio either on the meter and/or on your PC. To log RPM, or to Output the wideband signal to an external device you'll need the LM-2 Analog IN/OUT Cable optional accessory. For OBD-II features you'll need the LM-2 OBD-II Cable optional accessory. To record internally to your LM-2 you'll need the SD Card optional accessory. This unit also comes in a cardboard box, the black hardcase is an optional accessory LM-2 Carrying Case

2) The LM-2 Kit (Single Wideband O2) includes the LM-2 meter, Bosch wide-band oxygen sensor, 8 ft sensor cable, cigarette-lighter power adapter, analog in/out cable, ODB-II/CAN interface cable, SD memory card, USB cable for PC connection, weld-in bung and plug, LogWorks software CD, and quick-start guide. Carrying Case also included!
P/N: 3806, MSRP $479

3) The LM-2 Duo Kit (Dual Wideband O2) includes the LM-2 meter, (2) Bosch wide-band oxygen sensors, (2) 8 ft sensor cables, cigarette-lighter power adapter, analog in/out cable, ODB-II/CAN interface cable, SD memory card, USB cable for PC connection, (2) weld-in bung and plug kits, LogWorks software CD, and quick-start guide. Carrying Case also included!
P/N: 3807, MSRP $669.

Thanks
