    Need one of two things:

    A) Cheap (under $1,000) running, driveable car/truck/whatever.

    B) Running 5.7L GM V-8 for a late-90's GMC. If you can do the engine swap, that'd be a bonus.

Family has hit hard times down there, figured I'd run it through here. I've already scoured CL there and given my options.

    Thanks!

OK...whole story...Brother's '97 GMC and Sister's '96 Ram both bit it this week. Problems:

GMC: "Loud screaming/whining noise", power loss. Not serpetine belt issues, believed to be main bearing...? No faster than 30mph, starts fine, no smoke, no shudder.

Dodge: Diagnosis unknown. Vehicle died during roadtrip. No previous known problems.

Dodge is at NADC in Nashville, TN. Truck is being verified at garage in S. IL, but told my stepmother that a used engine "can't be found".

I've been trying, though So. IL is infamous for a lack of useful junkyards. So far I haven't seen anything.

I work for a salvage yard in Ohio. 96-up 350's are tough to find, we sold our last one for $850 w/175k.
I can find one for you on the locator, I just need to know what area you're in...
