did some work mainly finished up the swap he started he never had time to work out the bugs as he only drove it for 40 miles
hooked up the over flow it was puking coolant when i got to work - oops
battery would go dead after being fulley charged put it on the load tester and it would jsut instantly go 10.6v so it proably has a bad cell new battery and the car starts right up even after sitting for all day
car was a little squirrly on the ice PO said he never did an alignment afte tthe struts where switched out and the cradle was dropped 6 times. specs where off but where still with in adjustment used the rack when i was off the clock car rins dtraght as an arrow now and rides smooth. the progressive rate springs make a huge diffrent over the single rates the GPs normaly got
abs does nto work and there is no light need to hook up my scan tool to read the brake controle modual and see why proably just a plug did nto get hooked up and the bulb is burnt out
battery + cable was rubbing on the superchaeger idler pulley that is on the coil bracket put heat shrink over the cable and then moved the battery farther back and used a zip tie to hold the cable away from the pulley
topped off the coolant that burped out
but besides that it hands the 99 GTP i have it's butt in spades. mainly do to the fact of the better gear ratio and it's 300lbs lighter do to not having all of the options the silver one has

I keep wondering what that car would be like with awd....![]()

GM did that with the 2000 G8 concept car using a aztek AWD and a 5.7L LS1
issue was the rear axle assepmbly kept breaking and the LS1 was detuned to only 310hp

bought some parts fro the transmission core. when i get ready to build that i will make a second thread going for perfomance so the trans is going to cost more then the car did.
so far have
master seal and gasket kit
5 friction input clutch pack (stock is 4 friction)
thicker steels second gear clutch pack (to tighten put the clutches stock is varry loose)
double sided friction 3rd gear clutch pack with raybeso red friction material (hard to find discontinude had a spare set)
4340 fordged input shaft (stock is cast)
hardened pump shaft
hardend 4th gear hub shaft (stock on 04+)
04+ input and 3rd gear spargs (needed with the clutch packs i have)
forged output shaft (stock lieks to shatter when drag racing)
LSD for the diff
still need a new valve body the one int he core trans is too warn out and i do nto have a drill press to use the sonix kit, also need a new internal harness and solinoids. going to have $2300 in this trans and i am doing the work that's just parts. a stock rebuild could be done for 500 but then you are left with a stock 4t65

actualy worked on the car today as it was warm enough
got the new plate on
the irony is a bit lost on the 97 as i got it for the 01 but it's still funny already had a few people ask about it lol
next swapped over the lights
i think the 97 looks better with the clear corners then the 99 did. the 99 needed the black ones
and finaly got the front strut bar on
i will say this 97s are weird and agravating. there was 4 studs that had to be removed that sat on the top of the strut towers that served no purpise. only 2 studs actualy held witing or the vacuum line for the HVAC system the other two did nothing. after that though it fit better then it did on the 99. the 99 i had to force the bar to line up. on the 97 it just fell right into place. i suspect the 99 got tweaked some time in the past or the rust is more structural then first thought. for this reason the rear bar will remain on the car untill it is traded or scrapped
oh and have been getting 18mpg with only 3 working gears. that is the exact same mialge my van was getting and one mpg better then the merc

long time sense i updated this thread. mainly becuase nothing has broken and i just been drign it i have put close to 10,000 miles on it with only a 3 speed trans no over drive. been getting 13mpg out of it not bad for beign in boost most of the time
found out the a/c works in the car but the vents do nto they are stuck going out of every thing so need to figure that out and the BCM is cuasing a drain
but recently went to a junk yard and got the parts i needed to finish the charcoal interior swap on the car. still need rear seat belts and a glove box

well my silver car is officially dead. good news it is now a parts car for the green one and i am going to take the dash form it and possibly the auto a/c system
problem i now have is i do not have a single running/functioning car. the green car needs a dash and the mouse nest removed form the vents and has a battery drain that kills the battery i need to find. to get the green car to at least drive able will take about a week with all the little issues so yeah tryng to figure out how to get to work :/
and the merc well still need to hunt for a motor
