I was talking about this one...

Ran 283 and could still be driven on the street. Good write up here.

I had a red 86 TA and always dreamed of duplicating this car. Very Cool.

Always thought the banks car was a great looking bird. New PCV valve and a longer nipple on the intake and mine is no longer puking its guts. This is good beause I couldn't take anymore of the punishment for the oil on the ground. I know I am weak but the time to do it myself just wasn't coming up.

Trick I've done is pour mineral spirits on it, let it soak, scrub it with a straw broom, pour oil dry on it, let it pull it out. It'll probably take an hour or two.

              Re: 91CCFirebird's 1991 Firebird Formula

There's one more in the middle of those two firebirds... and one below them

Jerry, Joe, and Jeff Kugals 307mph is the first door car over 300mph and Mike Lefever built the engine... I'm fairly sure most of you would crap your pants if you knew how average it was... Mike just understands Boost and how to control it!!! ( it's got 23 degree heads )

The John Lingenfelter, Carl Stagmier, Gary Eaker Firebird...293mph... ( maybe higher I just don't actually remember ) this was the GM effort out of the back door... Gary now owns Aerodyn which houses the A2 wind tunnel that I've got to work in quite a bit...

The Banks car was featured a bunch but I never paid much attention to it... I'm sure it's nice... didn't catch the actual times it laid down... just know these others set records where they did...

Oh and My favorite not so bright but wickedly honest Car and Driver editor Csaba Csere and his wonderful crash.... he passed on no less then 7 opportunity's to prevent it and drove head long into it.... at around 280mph. great junk ( required reading for salt flats wanna be's ...C & D feb 96 )

The '91-'92 Firebird seems to be the best off-the-shelf aero package you can get.

                  Don't forget John Rains...high 290s with a turbo V6.

Unfortunately the fantasy bubble I was living in just popped.....drove the bird to work today and put it through the paces a little on the way home and it puked all over itself again....guess the rings are shot....open for other suggestions....time to start saving for a rebuild

Triple check the PCV system, then run a cranking compression test & check out all the plugs.

Ran a compression check and the bottom half checked out perfect, re-checked the PCV, changed the valve cover gaskets (leaking but not part of blow-by problem), oil pressure checked out good, I have no idea why it is shooting oil out the fill and dipstick......any other suggestions?

Let me say when things don't work like they SHOULD, sometimes it calls for fixing things like you SHOULDN'T have to. Stick a breater in it . Proferably to the valley/crank case.

I had the same thought.....gong to drive it a few days and see if it spits up again....leaving for little rock on Friday morning though so it won't see much road time in the next few days.

I think the problem is finally solved. Three days and no oil out of the top of the valve cover. Chased it for a month and it was just this simple, and only $4.95. Thanks Hoosier GTA.
