Are there any speed shops close to the drag strips we are going to? Especially Tulsa? How good are they (do they carry a lot of stuff)?

To my recollection (it has been about 9 years since I went to Memphis, most of the speed shops and such were on the opposite side of town.)

What's a Speed Shop? Seriously, there are so few left thse days. Hopefully guys with local knowledge will answer. I try to bring key spares that are unusual (my whole car) and unlikely to be stocked even at a good speed shop. Those include miscellaneous gaskets, fuel pump, starter. alternator. belts, weird part specific tools and valvetrain tools and spares and electrical repair tools and fuses, relays etc. Its good to know aht's where as what breaks is never what you have on hand.

I like the Around Me app on my phone. Used it to find an auto parts store the other day when I was in an unfamiliar part of town.

spoke to the owner of grand prix today,,he's pretty excited about drag week coming through again..said he should be in the shop on sunday ....and would help out all he could,,,,

Be sure the track announcer has the local information / phone numbers, as I would think a racer in need just may go up to the tower for help. Or maybe Hot Rod could at times announce that they do have names/numbers of "parts help" if needed...

I have on good authority, that THE BRIAN LOHNES will be announcing at ALL of the DW stops!!!!

In fact I need pictures if he is seen riding in the comfy HR rental, he said he is going to ride along with different competitors and not wuss out and ride in the rental!
