    I can't do the parkway.

I gotta stay off the Blue Ridge Parkway, I'm a wanted man up there, they didn't like my 67 MPH in their 45 MPH limit. And it's a federal offense up there.

I am running the route up to Hickory NC then making a few calls to see what traffic is doing.

I would think that a Fall tour of the BRPW and Deals Gap would be the best option.

I plan on being at Roush around 12 -12:30 and at the track by 2:30-3:00. Then staying down there at Twin Peaks or Thunder Saloon until 7 so traffic back into Mooresville dies down.

Not sure this is the day to add ~30 miles / 1 hour but I have it programed just in case.
This is exactly what I plan to do. Ran it Friday PM and it was awesome. I pretty much stuck to the speed limit. Didn't have to stop for any stop signs or lights......only slowed a couple of times for bicycles...........I want to do it in the Camaro...........I'm leaving Murphy about 7AM, so I hope to be at the Parkway by 9:00AM. Then hope to be in Asheville by 10:45, Hickory area by 12 and Mooresville by about 12:45. Does that seem reasonable?

            Route

There is some other ways to go and have some nice two lane roads as well. + some 4 lane roads. Stay on 64 74 all the way to Shelby NC then take Hwy 150 straight over to I-77 then into Charlotte. Don't know how much longer but it sure would be a nice drive.

You could cut across to SC down 28 and cut back over to Hwy 11 up to 221 into Forest City and Shelby then hit 150.

There are lots of great roads to travel into the area, but traffic after 1:00 south bound 77 will get heavy, as it is right now. It has been the typical Friday parking lot, only it extends north of exit 36 due to race traffic and a long weekend.

Also getting into Roush on Friday should be a power tour cars only event, I am hearing that the roads will be closed off to some extent with the exception of PT cars.

Where is what ? The venue is in Concord, a suburb of Charlotte. Harley's place is in Mooresville another "suburb" further out I guess.
Roush is in Mooresville not far from Harley's - pick a bumper and ride it - yee haw.

I grew up in Charlotte and know about where everything is. But after living in SC now for 30 years things move. At one time all the Nascar shops were in Charlotte NC but now most have moved up to Mooresville.

                      Routes !

                      Suggested routes
                      370 mi, 5 hours 45 mins In current traffic: 5 hours 45 mins I-85 S and I-75 N
                      362 mi, 5 hours 55 mins In current traffic: 5 hours 55 mins I-40 W
338 mi, 6 hours 4 mins No traffic information US-74 W This is hitting 40 in Asheville over to I 77 down to Huntersville then over to the track on hwy 73. The on popular tent rd.
So for about 30 minutes longer drive you will see a whole lot prettier country through the mts!

77 south will be the problem leaving Roush. The best way into the track on a Friday is by helicopter. The next best is probably the way i posted earlier. 73 is a cluster right off 77, if you get that far. Highway 3 is the best way to go, which will take you over to odell school, then to Poplar Tent. TL and cross 85 (heavy construction here also) make the first right by R&R BBQ. Follow this to 29 and TR. Z Max is on the right a couple of miles.

If traffic is that bad around there maybe they should hand out a map with the best directions at the lunch stop.

OK I googled mapped it. I know where I am now. Yea that would be the best route.

There is construction both north and south of the speedway on 85. It has 85 messed up, and some of the ramps to the north and south. It will be great when finished, just going to suck this year. Highway 29 coming in from the north & south is the best back way in, although it has a few lights. I plan on Odell School Rd then making adjustments to my route as I get closer depending on traffic.
