Sweet project man, keep us posted on your progress.
Absolutely awesome! I love it! Keep the pics coming!![]()

I'm in the process of putting a new motor in my 84, seeing those pics makes me want to stop what I'm doing and find a caddy motor.

I am a ford guy, and I think this is damn cool. Why is it that if this was a SBC instead of a caddy it would bug me? Evan then better to have a chevy motor than just rotting away. Cool car!
Thanks guys, its been a fun little project so far. The looks on the guys who have seen it in my shop have already been worth it, trying to figure out what it is.... ;)
One was sharp enough to say he didn't recall Milodon building pans for 500s. I just smiled and said they didn't make very many.
Steal all the ideas you want, I've "borrowed" enough in my time - I owe a few in return!
Most of this project is cast-off or 2nd hand parts. The car was a leftover, someone bought it for the drivetrain and was parting/scrapping the rest. Junkyard engine/trans, Craigslist Welds & K-member. Swapped parts for used plug wires & O-ring SBC thermostat housing. Battery cables came from a old IH combine our dealership traded in & scrapped. Found some used Bulldog valve covers & some aluminum pulleys, ARP head studs, junkyard dynomax mufflers, etc. Might have $1500 in the whole thing when done. (with the stock engine that is)
The engine is a stocker for mocking up and sorting everything out for now. I have another engine with Arias pistons, forged rods and set of raised-roof port heads that flow 320cfm's, and a couple intakes to try (Edlebrock & MTS). Also a RobbMc starter & fuel pump.
Figuring out headers right now, finding something to adapt is interesting to say the least. Can always fall back to manifolds while I work on that though...
Going to swap to a AJE K-member too possibly, might give me more clearance for 2" primary tube headers. We'll see....

Whether you can or can't, you are usually right.
Nice - I love stuff on the cheap.
So - are you going to put something sick into the bug too?
The bug....hmmmm. Try this link, its more of a off-road restoration/modification type of "thing". It may get the 2165 Weber engine from the sandrail when its done, or old reliable, the 1641 Kadron engine.
I have too many projects!

I wonder if you could cut the engine end off a set of 460 swap headers and adapt them to the caddy flanges?
(assuming you can buy 460 headers for those mustangs)
