there you are wrong, I like seeing them off the car so when the trade happens with the Austin I can get some Caddy parts thrown in as well... if you put them on the car, they're both used and Ford parts - either of which would just kill it for me

LOL......you are the second guy in 2 days to tell me they morph into Ford parts once installed......his angle was they acquire some beneficial mystical awesome metalurgy from prolonged contact with Ford sheetmetal.

Trade..I thought you decided to keep the Vette? Great, I shaved my chest for nothing when I read you were keeping it......

Seriously, you kept the Cadillac stuff when you sold the truck? For some reason I thought you purged the 500 stuff?

This is a long long off project though. I have to get through a '69 Firebird with a straight six and a turbo, and a body work, paint and stroker engine rebuild on a '67 Thunderbird with an FE engine first. Then I can do body work and engine stuff with the Centurion.
Ah. Forgot your tag line..." messy hack...EFI...". Lol.

Do it right and use Ford parts in the first place.

2- 500 caddies, one from Eldo.. Other from Sedan de Ville, one 472...

Tried to put a manual behind the Eldo motor, none of my bell housings would work.. All were early BOP style.. Pressure plate, flywheel problems plus the center hole was too small for my flatbed tranny.

You found somebody who has an Austin to trade for the Vette?

Since Cadillac never put a standard trans with these engine, none of the cranks were machined/drilled for a pilot. It can be done, relatively easy with the engine assembled.
    Flywheels are a little trickier.
Another reason (other than nobody wanted a luxury car with a stick) was that input shafts have a rough life behind the torque of the big cadillacs. Unless you take it easy, they tend to destruct. Who wants to take it easy?
A fellow called "caddycarlo" used to have a neat tutorial on the net showing it.
Standard BOP bells have been used, just have to make allowances (grind) for starter pocket clearance.
