I wish I could find a $1500 truck with $4200 motor in it. $2700 profit do that a couple times a month I would not have to work.

it never made it in it... because of the oil ring issues with the early ones the owner didn't want it..
I traded straight up a early 1970 dated 396 that needed sleaves in 7 cyl's and bare heads that needed seats and guides that was really scrap
sold my still in the crate 454ho last march that one I got 4600.00 , I payed 4178.oo for it and gave the guy the melonized gear and moroso a body oil pan/pick up, that one payed the a few months morg. payments while I was out of work on medical leaveLast edited by Stich496; August 11, 2011, 12:49 PM.Comment

I am kinda slow, so you going to have to help me out on this. You traded some scrap for a crate motor that you sold for over $4k that shows you are a great horse trader but what does that have to do with a rusty chevy truck with a 350 in it?Originally posted by Stich496 View Postit never made it in it... because of the oil ring issues with the early ones the owner didn't want it..

the 454 came with the truck.. the truck was 2000.00 obo (I talked him down to 1500.oo)but while talking to the p/o shooting the shit, he said he'd rather find a 396 or 427 to use in the 56 truck he had, I said I had a 70 396 that was 60 over and needed to be rebuilt he wanted it and I needed the truck shipped from texas, he brought the truck here and took the 396 home.. so yes the basicly scrap got the truck from texas to ma. the 454 was apart in the bead of the truck and he had the reciept for it. (shipping would've been 600.00 in 2002)Originally posted by Russell View PostI am kinda slow, so you going to have to help me out on this. when it got here I bolted it back together but did use the oil rings that was from the unknown miles 454 that is the base for my 496..
and sold it for 4200.oo total cost my labor and a tube of rtv.. oh and it was missing 3 pushrods, forget what I payed for junkyard ones.. wasn't much a few bucks , if you think the sale of the 454 shouldn't be added I'll pull it.. from the math, thats fine.. let me know..
hehe on the congress thing, to shy(don't know if thats the right word to use) to be a public speaker.. guess I'd need to be more outgoing..Last edited by Stich496; August 12, 2011, 04:55 AM.Comment

sale of the 454 is being called into question,
so I'm pulling that from the math of total cost..
mods please pull this thread(or lock it) from the 5k builds as the truck will be already over it.. without that sale, used..
thank you..
good luck everyone else
no point of going forward with this only to be labled "that guy"
the endComment

Well, if you don't build the truck, instead of being "that guy" you'll be "whiney bitch". Finish the damn truck already, I don't think anyone really cares - the story behind it was all that was needed. I didn't see a WTF! flag.Last edited by Beagle; August 12, 2011, 09:39 AM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

I understand now (said I was slow) really sounds like you got a hell of a deal! I don't know how everyone else fells but I think you could add in the $600 for cost of shipping and keep the $4200, and if thats the case should I add in the $100 in gas money to go pick up my Capri?Originally posted by Stich496 View Postthe 454 came with the truck.. the truck was 2000.00 obo (I talked him down to 1500.oo)but while talking to the p/o shooting the shit, he said he'd rather find a 396 or 427 to use in the 56 truck he had, I said I had a 70 396 that was 60 over and needed to be rebuilt he wanted it and I needed the truck shipped from texas, he brought the truck here and took the 396 home.. so yes the basicly scrap got the truck from texas to ma. the 454 was apart in the bead of the truck and he had the reciept for it.
