America's Most Beautiful Roadster Award is given out each year at the Grand National Roadster Show, and the level of detail in these cars is stunning. Walking around and glancing at them doesn't begin to show the level of detail these cars have.

This "simple" orange '32, along with all the AMBR competitors, will be judged throughout the weekend. Judging is done by a team armed with flashlights, and ready to get down and dirty looking for every detail and flaw.

Troy Ladd and his merry band at Hollywood Hot Rods has been chosen as this year's Builder of the Year. Troy brought out an array of cars, including this cool copper beauty.

While Troy will admit that HHR's specialty is hand built cars with a traditional feel, you will find no hashed together parts on Troy's creations. Everything in them is build for both form and function.

James Hetfield owns this swoopy art deco Auburn. Yeah, that James Hetfield. We didn't think it looked very Metallica either, but is sure is beautiful.

This little truck is the talk of the show. Owned by 400mph car guy extraordinaire, George Poteet, it started out as just a grill shell that Poteet took to Stingers Hot Rod Shop in Indiana and said "Build something behind this." Now it's this bitchin '32 Ford Truck.

What they decided to put behind it was a Donovan Model D 4 cylinder with a Miller high speed head that George had leftover from another project. It's backed by a 5 speed and a V8 quick change. We dig it.

The interior is killer on the truck and features a ton of great metal work.

While the truck was dreamed up by George and designed by Stingers, it was Troy Trepanier's Rad Rides by Troy that reformed some of the ideas, finished the fabrication work, and ultimately got it to the Grand National Roadster Show on time.

This is the Boyd Coddington French Connection that was on eBay a few weeks ago.

The great thing about the Grand National Roadster Show is that there are so many other things to see besides just roadsters. If you can imagine it, it is probably here. 600 cars are inside the show, and another 800+ are expected for Saturday and Sunday's outdoor show.

This simple '32 3-window coupe has the look that never goes out of style, and flawless black paint that keeps you staring.

The paint color on this '32 defines red. Wow.

This '49 Olds had big fenders and big tires to match. We dug the very nicely concealed rollbar too.

The wood on each side of this Woody wagon was made from one single piece of lumber to keep the grain perfect. The pictures don't do it justice.

Candy apple red is making a comeback. We have seen more cars at the GNRS in candy apple red than at all shows combined for the last 3 years.

Glass '37 Fords were like belly buttons a few years ago. Are they making a comeback?

Something about this '34 Ford just works for us.

In our book, this is the perfect Ford Pickup.

Jerry Magnusson's AMBR contender, complete with plastic wrap on the tires to keep them clean. I could not own a show car.

It's crazy, it's angular, and based on that I'm going to assume Cadillac powered.

We don't normally dig mint green, but on this Chevy pickup it works.
