This is one of six 1963 Z08 Stingrays built late in 1962 to race Riverside. Instead, this car and one other like it competed in a NASCAR sanctioned event on the famed Daytona Beach 2.5 mile oval. The car was lightened extensively and weighed just over 2,800 pounds. This car, driven by Junior Johnson, was the fastest qualifier at over 162 mph. Plagued by rain during the race, substitute driver Billy Krause finished third.
