I Can’t Help Myself: Another Week, Another Monstrously Cool Cadillac Wagon – 1975 Cadillac Castilian

I’m not the only one who begins to froth at the mouth and twitch when an awesome Cadillac wagon shows up for sale somewhere. American Powertrain’s Matt Graves has this affliction as well and he tipped me off to the sale of this monster 1975 Cadllac Castilian wagon which from what we can tell has an asking price of $40,900. These things are rare as he’s teeth with just 50 having been produced, not by Cadillac directly but by another company. We’ll get to all that in a minute.

This car is perfect. Every long ass inch of it is like brand new. The paint, the interior, the 500ci mill, it is all there and the cavern that opens up when the rear hatch is opened and the seats go down is breathtaking. It is like looking into the automotive version of a black hole in space. It just goes on forever.

We have showed you Castilian wagons before and what’s interesting about that is the fact that despite the low production numbers, many of them lived. They had to be insanely expensive to start with so the good news is that most were maintained like the proverbial “boy in the bubble” for their lives. We’re guessing company executives and other big shots bought these to haul people around estates or shuttle people from an airport to their massive home somewhere.

Rolling on the 133″ wheelbase Fleetwood chassis, Traditional Coach Works converted the cars at their Los Angeles facility and what a job they did. These things were crafted by expert metalworkers. The work to modify the body was better than OEM quality and it shows. The paint on the car looks great, the lines of the body are perfect, and even the carpet is completely sweet looking.

We’re guessing the total weight of this car is somewhere in the 6,000lb range. A standard 1975 Fleetwood weighs 5400lbs and a Fleetwood 75 limo weighs 5700lbs so t has to be somewhere in there with the addition of the roof section in the rear.

So good.

That is a gem right there. I have a strange hankering for a wagon, and the more enormous the better. Power Tour would be great in something like this, because people could lie completely down in the back to nap.

The want is strong with this one. Judging by the grille and taillights, it appears to be a ’76. I dig it.
