BangShift Speed Records: This Ford Promo For Their 1956s Models Was Brilliant! A Postcard You Literally Put On The Turntable

(By Eric Rood) – In the 1950s, manufacturers and dealerships started releasing promotional records to the public. I was looking for a couple of specific ones, but I instead stumbled upon this great relic uploaded by YouTube user “78revolutions.” It’s a playable postcard sent out by Ford in late 1955 to promote the new 1956 Ford lineup. On the card, Ford spokeswoman Rosemary Clooney stands in a skimpy Mrs. Claus outfit next to what looks like a ‘56 Victoria.

While both she and the Ford are lookers, you could actually pop the postcard onto a turntable and listen to Clooney pitch the ‘56 Fords to the tune of “Jingle Bells” at 78 RPM. Direct mail from dealerships sure isn’t the same these days.

Press play below to listen to this great playable postcard pitching 1956 Fords!
