We have learned that Dave Wallace, the noted journalist, drag racing historian, and International Drag Racing Hall of Fame member, will take the leadership role at Hot Rod Deluxe. This move comes after the recent announcement that the magazine will be available for subscription, not just on the newsstand like it is currently. Until now, David Freiburger has been in the editor’s chair. He’s been handling both Hot Rod and Hot Rod Deluxe but will now focus his energy on Hot Rod, which we have to think is a relief. 

There are times when the announcement of a new editor at an awesome magazine is met with criticism and dread, but we’re stoked to hear this. Freiburger has done a great job bringing Deluxe back from the dead and making a regular book out of it, but now with Wallace on it full time, our mind is reeling with the cool stuff that should be coming down the pipe.

There are few people out there that we respect more than Dave Wallace and fewer still that we’re more proud to call a pal. With his level of experience and lifetime living in both the sport of drag racing and the culture of hot rodding, he’s the most qualified dude on planet Earth for this job. 

He’s D2 on the BangShift forums, and we sure hope that he isn’t a stranger now that he’s back in the working world! Not that he needs to here it from us, but congrats to Dave Wallace and everyone that reads Hot Rod Deluxe this is a win-win for everyone!
