Volvo dealerships pride themselves on selling for a company that believes first and foremost in the safety of their customers. It’s a nice thing, if not a little dull. But Volvos have never really been cheap…more mid-priced. So it’s not surprising that occasionally there is an interesting ride in the used car lot that got traded in for a safe family ride. I know of one friend of mine who went this route, trading in a Z51 Corvette for a XC90 to haul his two kids around in. Which leads me to ask: What did the former owner of this 1941 Willys trade in for?
This Willys is a knockout. The black all-steel coupe was formerly owned by Gary Anderson, the founder of SoftSeal rubber. The car is built with a G-machine kick to it, with seemingly no expense spared. A custom Art Morrison chassis supports the car, with a four-link 9″ out back and Strange coil over shocks keeping the suspension in check. The 3rd Gen Hemi is backed by a Phoenix-built 4L60E automatic and sends power to the 3.70 gears in the rear. 12.5″ Wilwood discs sit at all four ends with four-piston calipers rein in the power when asked.
Inside the car things look a little more normal for a Volvo dealership. The brown leather interior is gorgeous, there are power windows, a Vintage Air system, gauges by Classic Instruments and a Stealth stereo. Attention was certainly given to driver comfort.
So what is the asking price on this multiple award-winning beauty? According to Volvo of Dallas, you’re looking at $110,988, or $1,385 per month for 72 months @ 3.9% APR with a down payment of $22,197.
Right. Back to Craigslist I go…If you want to see the ad for yourself, Click Here

wow…does my head in a little, this one….guy owns this Willys, driving past a Volvo dealer, and some new Volvo made him go ` hell, I want THAT much more than I want THIS….’ weird.
Could be the builder’s widow traded it in. That might make more sense.
Wonder how many volvo’s he traded for that. Had to be at least 2
Maybe he traded it for one of those mental Polestar S60s.
Sweet ride, I always liked the ’40 – ’41 Willys, however this one is out of my price range.
I just hope that he got two cars for the price of that thing.
its a 40 not a 41, the grill in 40 was a two piece and the 41 is one piece
Hey honey, grab the petty cash box. We’re going to Dallas to by a car.
Talk about ” OVERBLOWN ” & NO blower ….
