Ebay Find: The Key To Getting A Good Price On This Pontiac Safari Wagon Is Patience!

Ebay Find: The Key To Getting A Good Price On This Pontiac Safari Wagon Is Patience!

“Price will drop until sold. Miles will go up as I’m driving it.” Well, then! We have to admire the seller’s attitude regarding the sale of their 1979 Pontiac LeMans Safari station wagon. It’s a game of patience…eventually, they will either find the seller willing to pay, or will find the price point that the car should be at. Supply and demand…finally, something I learned from my Economics classes (besides how much alcohol it truly takes to drown sorrows) is coming into play!

“This gem has been stored in a barn for 35+ years! There were only 27,517 of these produced! It’s a very nice 1979 Pontiac Lemans Safari Wagon, it’s like a muscle car & sports car all in one. It has the looks of a sporty car but is also a wagon that you can haul the whole family or your items around in. As you can see the paint is very nice. The body is straight, clean & rust free! Cool front end on this car.  The chrome is in good condition and has a nice shine to it. The factory hub caps that they put on are really nice, they give the car a unique look. This car has the Buick motor (so I’ve been told). It’s a good runner, starts rite up & goes down the road real nice! The interior is clean and well maintained. The seats are very nice leather with no cracks or rips. The carpets are good with no rips or tares. Hand crank windows. Also included is the owners manual and some other papers. Never smoked in, with a clean ash tray too! It has been given a complete tune up, new battery, plugs, wires, all belts & fluids have been changed & new white wall tires too, as you can see the blue is still on them. It has 3 issues; 1)The glove box isn’t closing. 2)The head liner is gone. 3)The very back window won’t stay open without help. You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner car like this one. I’m including the mats; 2pc. in the front, 1pc. in the back & a cargo mat too! I’m also including the safari themed seat covers & steering wheel cover.”

Buick motor? We wouldn’t be shocked to find a 3.8L V6 under that rat’s nest of emissions hoses. If you can confuse a stock G-body wagon for a muscle or sports car, we know a few good eye clinics…sure, you can modify the car to be as nasty as you want it to be, but in it’s current form, it’s pure Malaise. The one thing we do dig is that it reminds us a bit of the poor Pontiacs that Sheriff Buford T. Justice drove into the ground in the Smokey and the Bandit franchise. It’s certainly the right color!

Readers, you all pick this one apart: where’s the purchase price for this one need to be?

I have still yet to be given the answer as to why American station wagons used to be always painted baby-shit brown and plastered with fake “wood”.

Because it was American 70’s cool. They emulated the woody wagons of the 30′ & 40’s.

I saw this on fleabay last week and couldn’t stop laughing! It’s amazing how clueless some sellers are feeling since it’s old, must be valueable. He’ll be driving that for awhile!

A little less than a year ago I saw a 1980 malibu wagon that had about 7k on it and under the hood was so clean that it looked like it was just delivered from the dealer. It had a v6, was light blue metallic and was around $10k. This guy needs to start taking his meds again because he is delusional.

I’m remembering that saying “just because it’s rare doesn’t mean it’s valuable”. Cool car but he’ll be lucky to get half that price.
