Answering The Call Of The Blower With A 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Type LT!

Answering The Call Of The Blower With A 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Type LT!

Normally, this is where I’d put some cheesy line about “Autumn is blower season”, but seriously…blower cars don’t have a season unless you live in a place where you risk snowdrifts up to your waist line at least once a year. Nothing says happiness quite like seeing a Roots poking through the hood, and if it looks like the car it’s attached to could be reasonably driven often, all the better. Behold, here is one such creature: a 1978 Camaro. If there was ever a car that needed an iron lung in the late 1970s, the Camaro was it: first year for the new rubber bumper treatment at both ends of the car, a weak-suck 185 horsepower 350 was hindered with higher gears to try to hit fuel economy figures, and in the case of the Type LT model, none of the flash that the Rally Sport and Z28 models had.

s-l1600The Camaro’s combination is common enough: a 355 small-block setup with dual 750s, a TH350 with a 3,500 stall converter, and 4.56 gears out back. Ok, it’s daily drivable if you want to scare the neighbors in a small town, but a rear gear change isn’t that big of a deal for a car that’s great driver quality and ready to roll, is it?

It’s a beautiful view, you have to admit.
