eBay Find: This 1976 Ford B-100 Is For The Classic Ford Fan Who Was Jealous Of The Suburban!

Prior to the arrival of the Ford Expedition, if you wanted a Ford sports-utility, you had to deal with two doors and a removable roof, period. Nothing against the Bronco in any of it’s forms, but when the GM guys drove by in a Suburban, you know that had to be like salt in the wound. If it really bothered you, Centurion could make you a C-series truck which was a four-door pickup with the back end of a Bronco grafted on, but that was in the 1990s when SUVs were booming in sales. Prior to that, Ford’s best answer was the Econoline van, but if you lived in Mexico, there was another option, the Ford B-100.

Here’s what we know about these rigs: they are mostly the same mechanically as their U.S. market counterparts, from the doors forward, but once you hed back to the bumper, you got either a two-door or three-door utility (think 1968-72 Suburban) and your choice of barn doors or a tailgate setup. Likely engines include the 300 Six, the 302, and possibly even the Australian-sourced 302 Cleveland. This particular B-100 has a 302 and a four-speed manual.

This truck has been in the United States for a while now, living in New Mexico, and while it’s painfully obvious that a restoration of some kind is needed, the joy of not having to consider a Chevy Suburban just might be the tipping point for a true-blue Ford freak. Finding the specific parts might be a headache and a half, but the end result would be a unicorn sighting for F-series fans.

I have never heard of these! I would like to own one to see what we could do but the price is way out of my league. Maybe 50% of what they are asking now

What a poor attempt at a surburban like vehicle. The side windows are what you see on a cheap motor home.

    Pass.

The things I’d do for a Centurion. I’ve never seen one and figured they were just internet folk lore. This thing is cool, and would be awesome to own.
Slam it to the ground with some big air bags, add some larger wheels, heavy diff and a cummins swap. Paint the body in some really deep shade of blue (almost black) replace all the trim and grill to bring it that showroom look. On the inside add some fresh upholstery vintage air and an up to date stereo. The ultimate tow vehicle and family cruiser.

Centurion did build 4 door \’79 broncos on the f-250 crew cab platform. My neighbor has a super clean one, all original except for \’37\’s and a little lift. It\’s amazing as it sounds. They\’re just extremely rare.

Awesome – a Ford challenger to the Range Rover that should have been sold all over the world. Instead it probably spent its life hauling slabs of cocaine and headless bodies in Mexico…

If you consider that hodge-podge jumble of parts to be a challenger to the Range Rover the I think you’ve been sampling some slabs of cocaine.

There actually is an early 90’s Centurion running around the Bay Area. Didn’t know what it was till the article mentioned it!

    Thanks

Am I the only one seeing this? It’s a delivery that was destroyed with motorhome windows. I would have loved it before those windows were installed.

Looks like the started for a F-700 cowl chassis not a full cab. The roof above the windshield is raised from a regular pick up for Bronco cab. That is something the Cowl only chassis were made with. Since it’s all this and that Ford probably had a special order package for the body maker.

As others have pointed out the side windows look to be poorly installed camper/Van units. I doubt it let the converter with those or the roof rack.
