Take all of our money now. Seriously. If there is one Aussie car that most gearheads know about, it’s the versions of the Ford Falcon that are best remembered as flat-black, post-apocalyptic musclecars of the highest order, complete with switch-operated blowers and one very pissed-off driver in the seat of honor. No disrespect to Max, but the Falcons that came starting in 1972 had a lot more going for them than just a movie car relation. They were Bathurst monsters, they were nightmare fuel to Aussie government leaders, and they were as sharp a musclecar as any other you can name off of the top of your head. And today, they are cherished and collected the world over, one of which is this Falcon XC.
Featured in Popular Hot Rodding in 2014, we were first introduced to this car at the 2016 SEMA show, where it was sitting just outside of the Convention Center as part of Pennzoil’s display of important vehicles. To clarify what that means, this Falcon was sharing space with Sung Kang’s “Project Underdog” Maverick and a Marmon Wasp. It might have been just a Ford when it rolled off of the line, but it is far above that today.
And it’s not just a pretty face, either. A 406ci Kotzur Racing 351 Cleveland pushes out 540 horsepower to a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual, which in turn punishes the 3.55 geared Ford 9-inch rear axle. RSS three-link suspension, sway bars, tower brace, brakes and calipers handle suspension duties, and QA1 shocks keep everything in line. A 35-gallon fuel tank will make sure you have plenty of range, thirsty V8 be damned, and Vintage A/C will keep you cool. And just to top off the build, a set of Forgeline VX3C wheels keeps the rubber in check.
Built to handle and run like a screaming demon, this Falcon lives up to the hype that government officials panicked about those years ago. It’s eye-searingly blue, it’ll raise all sorts of hell if called upon, and the likelihood of seeing another in the same state is very, very low indeed. Why wouldn’t you want it?

I love em! My current one is a 73 XB coupe, 351 4 speed that I’ve rebuilt everything on in the last 14 years, it even got a brief article on Bangshift a few years ago. I’ve owned 6 or 7 of them and even in Australia kids, adults, chicks, everyone just stops in their tracks whenever its out…
