Many people are aware that Ford built some awesome cars in Australia that we didn’t get here in the States. While we built Mavericks, Granadas, Fairmonts, and such, Ford Australia stuck with the Falcon all the way through to today. Most people tend to think of the all-black V8 Interceptor of Mad Max fame when they think of an Australian Falcon, and yeah, that car is exceptionally awesome and we’d be more than happy to blast around in one, but Ford made V8 Falcons up until 1982…then cut the V8 until 1991. Which makes this green 1984 example a strange beast. It’s for sale in Boulder, Colorado, and if it didn’t come with a V8 from the factory, somewhere along the line during the car’s stay in the U.S. that little issue was rectified in a big way.
The biggest motor ever offered for an XE Falcon was the 351 Cleveland, but under the hood here is FoMoCo’s battle tank mover, the 460ci big block. Claimed to be pushing 10.5:1 compression and sporting small tweaks like an intake, cam, what appears to be an aftermarket radiator and a Holley carb, it sounds interesting enough and the C6 automatic backing it was beefed up to handle the torque. Other than the aftermarket wheels, we don’t see much else altered. The body looks mostly straight and the interior is complete and presentable.
For a car that is being offered up at $25,000, we aren’t completely sold by all of the pictures that show the Ford on a car trailer, and we’d want to make sure that all of the Falcon’s importation paperwork is solid, lest we end up as yet another imported car owner whose ride is getting crushed by the government. But if everything checked out, we would rock this car all day long and then some. How about you?
