As many of you know, a few months ago Chad and I had to close down the old website that used to employ us and also clear out the shop where we’d been working. Aside from the drama of going out of business and losing our jobs, one of the biggest defeats to me personally was that my ’70 Super Bee that had been in storage for nearly 10 years would, once again, be relegated to neglect in my garage. We had dragged the car out and fully intended to execute a long-needed revamp, but life circumstances changed all that. I don’t know when I’ll be able to afford the time or money to attempt the revitalization once again.

It’s a particularly hard blow becuase the Super Bee was my first car, acquired when I was 15, and it has a lot of history including starring in both a TV movie and in a buildup series in Hot Rod magazine. One of the very first of the Mopar Performance reproduction Hemi blocks found its way into this car, and it was built by the shop of the now-deceased Mopar hero Dick Landy.

It was, in theory, my dream car, but one that did not come out exactly as I’d hoped, as detailed in the story, “Pros and Cons of a 10-Second Street Car” penned by me when I was the editor of Car Craft. The last time the Bee ran was when it was out of the garage for that story.

As we planned for a video last year, I scanned some of my old photos of the Super Bee in its heyday. Since those will now not be seen in video form I decided to post them here in our photo gallery for you to check out. Some of the shots are kind of embarrassing, others are pretty good. I hope you enjoy them.
