Rough Start: Finding A Survivor 1967 Dodge Dart Like This Doesn’t Happen Often!

Fifty years of use will take it’s toll on any car. Wear, tear, use and abuse all “add character” (read: impact the looks) and usually, most cars will not make it to half of that lifespan. That’s what makes this 1967 Dodge Dart so awesome: it’s still here, more or less untouched. It’s survived a half-century unmolested. The hubcaps are there, for Pete’s sake, as is the Slant Six and the three speed on the floor. This wasn’t a Hemi Dart, or a Mr. Norm’s Special. This was basic transportation for 1967: engine, trans, four wheels and enough engineering to get you there and back home again without killing you. There’s a reason why the Chrysler A-body is so loved…durability was actually incorporated into the platform. The Slant Six’s ability to take punishment is legendary. And yes, they rust, but all we see are rear wheelwells…no surprise and no issue to fix.

Judging from the wording of the ad, this Dart was in line to get a big-block swap before the current owner had a change of heart on the subject, and for that we are glad. Yes, a big-block Dart is something to behold, but so is a fifty-year survivor that is still plugging along. For a Rough Start candidate who believes in the “less is more” mantra, this little Dodge is a hell of a find. You’ll be out of budget early on, with a $4995 asking price, but other than the typical used-car prudence checks like brakes, oil and tires, we are willing to bet that you’ll be able to drive for quite a while before you are forced to address a major issue. It might not get there quickly, but it’ll get you home.

How much is it without the 68 GTS hood and what happened to the 68 GTS it came off of??

I had a 67 Dart GT, really nice looking car. This is the first time I think I’ve seen a 67 two door with the full frame windows. The weird roof on this one totally transforms the car into something really ugly.
