The Parting Shift: Ripping Gears In A Ten-Second Six-Speed Supercharged Challenger

The Parting Shift: Ripping Gears In A Ten-Second Six-Speed Supercharged Challenger

Jay “Speedy” Orrand’s 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T is one bad mother. The namesake behind Speedy’s Garage and the creator and organizer of the ChallengerFest show in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Orrand’s Mopar, nicknamed “Orange Crush”, isn’t the “fat kid Challenger” you should be making jokes about. An Arrington-built 6.0L Hemi with a Magnuson supercharger punts out enough power to get the Dodge moving to the tune of a 3.94 second 0-60 run and a quarter mile best (so far) of [email protected]. The Challenger is daily-driver reliable, a beauty sitting in the middle of a car show, and nothing short of a freaking beast once the slicks are bolted onto the back. Come April, we will see if there’s still more speed hidden in the Challenger as Speedy runs down Beech Bend Raceway…hopefully the new track surface helps! We love the fact that he can and will beat on his pride and joy like it’s a rental car, and look forward to watching it crank out ten-second passes!

Thanks Bryan, I didn’t know that rule had changed.

That engine sounds unreal….had to watch it a couple of more times.

That is bad information the rule has not changed, the no roll bar rule for 2008 and newer cars only apply to unaltered factory cars. With Vettes and other cars breaching the 11.5 mark bone stock brought about the rule change.
