V8 Chevrolet LUV vs Blown Chrysler V8-Powered Alfa Romeo GTV6 In Germany –

Straight from Hockenheimring’s drag strip in Germany, we bring you one of the more strange pairings we’ve seen. In the near lane is a mostly-typical V8 Chevrolet LUV build. A 400ci small-block Chevrolet mill on pump gas and a TH350 hooked to an AMC Model 20 rear axle get the job done. In the other lane, however, is one of the stranger door slammer drag cars we’ve seen in a minute: it’s a Roots-blown, Chrysler-powered Alfa Romeo GTV6. Make all the noise you want about Alfas, but the GTV6 had one of the more impressive engines to come out of Italy: the Busso V6. Ripping that engine out would make Alfa purists clutch their chest, but in a move that just seems…well, fitting…the GTV6 has been turned into a kind of Ital-American hybrid, like a Pantera, and for some reason it looks just sexy to me. Either way, there’s a race to get on with, so which one will take it: the midget pickup or the answer to a question nobody asked?
