Anybody Like An Old Tow Truck? This 1978 Ford C600 Wrecker Is Cab-Over Greatness!

It’s short, stronger than an ox, with classic lines and a shape that is wholly distinctive. With a big V8 (either an “FT” or a 385-series 370ci big block) hooked to a set of deep gears via a chunky, heavy-duty manual trans, it’ll get the work done, as long as you aren’t expecting to be done in record time. The front bumper doubles as a work platform, the lettering is neat and if you really needed to, you could put it to work, earning money. It’s the beauty of owning an old wrecker, and this 1978 Ford C-600 tow pig is about as pretty as one can get.

With a shape that was used for thirty-three years, you’re bound to get a wide range of people who will undoubtedly come up to you with stories that involve a truck just like the one you could be driving right now. And just to put the icing on the cake…see that placard between the headlights…the one that says “Emergency One”? This tow truck wasn’t always a tow truck! Art’s Body Shop was responsible for converting what was probably a retired fire truck into a heavy wrecker…how neat is that?
