Rough Start: Flat-Faced Van Goodness Can Be Yours With This 1968 Dodge A108!

I don’t quite get the appeal of the flat-faced van. I understand how Ford Falcons, Corvair Greenbriars, Dodge A-100s and the GM twins became popular as work and utility vehicles, but when it comes to something that the family could enjoy…nope, don’t see it at all. But every car has their fan, and the same can be said of every van, especially when it seems like vans are coming back into style. If it means that another classic vehicle is given some love and put back on the road, then I’m all for it, and today I’ve got just the ticket: a 1968 Dodge A-108 van.

van2I found this blue and white box on wheels while searching Wyoming for anything interesting, and the appeal lies in the fact that this one appears just about unmolested. The seller has the bumpers and the passenger’s seat that you don’t see in the photos, so don’t sweat missing items any. The slot mags are a nice touch, but confusing this 318/automatic machine for a muscle cruiser is a farfetched assumption…and that would be the case once you got the Dodge running. At least finding parts won’t be an issue.

van3Being a fully-windowed long-wheelbase van instead of a cargo van, we doubt that parts-hauling is what you’d want to use this Dodge for. We’d suggest some kind of surf/camp wagon, but whatever happens to this ode to the rolling breadbox, we just want to see it moving under it’s own power again.
