I stopped by Tube Chassis Designz yesterday to annoy and derail the productivity of my buddy Jon Sandahl and to check on the progress with the Fat Lane t-bolt build that we’ve been following. They have some fiberglass work being done now so as they’re cranking on other customer projects in the shop. One of those projects is a truly nasty Mustang fastback that’s sporting an 88mm Turbonetics turbo, an anvil-like small block Ford engine designed to swallow all that boost, and a small wheel/tire package that looks as right as rain. Oh, there is also a ton of bad ass fabrication work in the turbo plumbing that the boys have been working on.

This car will see street miles as well as strip miles so it has been important to package everything accordingly. With the turbo mounted front and center, the radiator has been moved to the rear of the car where the gas tank would have lived and the fuel tank has been swapped for an Aeromotive cell and fuel pump setup that is located in the trunk. The car will have a full interior and all the necessary equipment to be a performer on the strip as well as be a good rig for the use on local roads.

The Trick Flow headed and intake equipped motor is based off of a Ford Racing block and Jon believes that it measures out to somewhere in the mid-to high 300ci range. There are a bunch of popular bore and stroke combos in that displacement area so we can’t say for sure. We plan on keeping an eye on this one as the boys at Tube Chassis make progress on its build.
