This 413 Powered 1963 Chrysler 300 Is Uglier Than Sin Dipped In Mysery, But Man That Makes It Cool

This 413 Powered 1963 Chrysler 300 Is Uglier Than Sin Dipped In Mysery, But Man That Makes It Cool

During my high school years, Dusty Renteria had one of these Chrysler 300 sedans with a 440 and a set of N50-15 Indy Profiles. I should have known then what my tastes would later turn to, as I always loved that car even though I didn’t know why. I was a Camaro kid, a muscle car freak, but there was something about that big car, sitting just right, with big and littles, and a stout sounding 440 under the hood. Man it was cool. The Renteria’s would say it’s because it is a Mopar. They might be right.

So when I found this one on Craigslist yesterday I had to post it. It’s a real 413 car, with cool push button 727, and it runs and drives. Sure it needs some love, but I have to tell you I would worship this thing with a giant crossram, a tiny converter, as much tire as I could stuff under it, and all the attitude it can stand.

What would you do with this big beast?

Here is all the info from the seller:

With respect, Chad, I disagree on one point; She’s not ugly. Ugly is the 90+ percent of today’s Euro-Japo-Korean econo-box 4 door sedans and SUV’s that all look alike, painted up in their various baby-puke pastel colors. Rock this 300 and you lead the pack, brother.

    No! No!

Not ugly at all – she is crying out for a Hemi transplant, airbags and sumptuous black leather interior with sulphurous-smelling incense and the faint sound of screaming issuing from the speakers…

HEMI!? Christ man, thats like stuffing a LS into everything…this 413 with the uber cool but useless cross ram intake would be glorious!

It’s a 1964 Chrysler not a ’63. This has the little fins, a 1963 does not. As a 300K some came from the factory with 390hp 413ci with cross ram and cast iron headers.

Correct sir! 63 also had round tail lights I believe. I found a two door 300 that I used my running and driving \’64 New Yorker \”Salon\” as a parts donor for.
(That was the wrong move) days after sending the carcass to the scrap yard, I found out that they only made around 200 Salon models that year. Still kicking myself, and still trying to get the two door in driving condition. ☹️

Troopers on the GSP here in NJ used these quite effectively in the 60’s. Since they did not use radar, they would come up from behind hiding in traffic then, swooping in from behind…you were cooked!! ” If I get out of my car you’re getting a ticket” A direct (female) trooper quote. 🙂

I hate wearing googles when I drive. The first thing that I would do is find a windshield for this car.

There is a guy localy with one, green, green interior. Not sure whats in it, he never opens the hood but it is a thing of beauty. Great looking cars IMO…I’ve seen one tubbed once but I cannot remember where…I think it was a 4 door too…

  7. Mopar or No Car

Run away. There is no such thing as “number match” in a 1963 or 1964 Chrysler product. And nothing says “almost ready for the road” like a missing windshield and a disconnected heater box. This is a parts car that should sell at a parts car price.

Needs a heater core and it becomes a parts car?

Looks great and very solid. Hope it goes to a good home. That thing would make a statement on the road!

POS, the guy don’t even know what year car he has. Yeah, the statement it will make is, wow, look how ugly these early ’60s mopars are.
