Craigslist Find: A Factory Built 1953 Packard Camper! Rough but 100% Cool!

Craigslist Find: A Factory Built 1953 Packard Camper! Rough but 100% Cool!

Chad and I certainly had a great week at SEMA and worked our backsides off to keep you up to date with cool products, info, and cars. In fact, we’ve still got lots of stuff you’ll see over the coming days, but since we’re home it is also time to fire the tip line back up. BangShift member YellowMalibu found this totally awesome 1953 Packard camper for sale on Craigslist in Georgia. The machine is not the results of someone’s meth inspired ideas, but instead it was factory built by a camper company that ordered Packard hearse chassis and then added their camper unit.

As the car has been sitting for decades the seller reports that the condition of everything is tough. That being the case,  when are you going to find another one of these?  The engine is a Packard flathead straight eight which probably makes about 100hp and enough torque to lug this creation around but you’re not getting anywhere in a hurry. Because the “cab” is 100% open to the camper unit, this would make a great car to load some pals in and head to the drag races. Sure, you could sleep 1.5 people on the submarine bunk sized bed, one on the front bench seat, and a couple more in a tent outside, but it would still be fun.

Lots of people dig old campers. We’ve never EVER seen an old Packard camper. Have you?

Throw a BangShift wrap on it, ala the “$200 Hauler”, for Brian to cruise around the east coast area and to his announcing gigs!

‘Looks like the glass is usable and all the trim seems to be present…

And there’s that BBC [formerly?] slated to be plopped into Buford, just in case the straight-eight doesn’t generate enough power to, how can I say this PC, pull an ailing “lady of the night” off a commode.
