One-Off 1951 English Ford Custom Barn Find: Check This Thing Out Now!

One-Off 1951 English Ford Custom Barn Find: Check This Thing Out Now!

Our buddies at Stokers Hot Rod Factory always have cool stuff in the shop. And somehow they always seem to find really bitchin hot rods in barns, fields and at swap meets that nobody else pays attention to. Such is the case with this thing. It’s a 1951 English Ford, but with most of the body changed using all kinds of Studebaker and other makes sheetmetal to build one bitchin little custom. And it was done a jillion years ago!

The truth is a lot of the history of this thing is unknown. The lady that the gang at Stokers bought it from told them as much as she knew about the car, and that her Uncle had been the one that built it. Whoever did it, has an eye for cool, and did a great job. We’re really impressed with how creative this car is without looking stupid.

In fact, if you told most people this was some factory model of English Ford they would probably believe you. The lines are right, the work is cool, and we just dig it. There is something really really unique about this thing and we’re sure that whoever ends up with it will have a fun ride. I’m not sure whether I would fix it just enough to drive it, or if I would do a complete restoration on it. Either way, this is one that I would want to cruise in for sure.

Someone buy it! It’s only about a block down the street from my shop, and I’d be happy to meet you there for a ride!. Oh, and if someone bought it and wanted to have Stokers take care of the fuel system and cooling so it was a reliable driver, I will drive it anywhere in the country to deliver it if you pay for the expenses. Hows that for a deal!

Check it out.

Sometimes what lurks in a barn should be left there – and the barn set alight so it never sees the light of day….

Yeah, I like that little buggy. If it runs and drives, let’s say it has a heavy patina and call it done. I’m not crazy about the seats, though.

After taking a second look at this I actually find it quite cute as it continues the heritage of British “specials” that were based on Ford Popular components. All this needs is a decent paint job, the panel gaps sorting out, new seats and some Aquaplane speed equipment for that sidevalve motor – then a fawn duffle coat and a cloth cap for the driver!
