WTF eBay Find: A Pro Street 1992 Geo Tracker – Death Trap POS Alert

WTF eBay Find: A Pro Street 1992 Geo Tracker – Death Trap POS Alert

It has been a while since we found a legit death trap on eBay but we’re bringing the high heat on that front today. This is a pro street 1992 Geo Tracker, which is kind of lame and weird on its own. What really pushes this thing over the cliff to crush-itville is the “mild 305″ power plant, SINGLE DRIVELINE BRAKE, the owner’s complete lack of specific knowledge  about the vehicle, and the fact that it is a PRO STREET 1992 GEO TRACKER.

There are some truly beautiful quotes in the ad itself. Take this gem, about the braking system (or lack thereof) for example, ” The front axle is a solid one piece with coilover springs and the braking system is a single disc brake on the driveline.  The brake stops the Tracker well on the street but if I was going to race this I would put disc brakes on the front and / or add a parachute.” Good thinking there Dale Armstrong. Let’s bolt a ‘chute to the back of this bitch because the 200hp 305 is going to really have us hanging on for dear life at the drag strips that will never let this heap run. We wish he would have included a photo of the driveline brake setup because they has to be one for the ages.

The fuel cell looks to be about three gallons of capacity, but luckily it and the battery were moved to the back of the vehicle for “weight transfer”. The only weight that should be transferring onto this thing would be the weight of a car crusher’s hydraulic ram. Could you really look someone in the eye and hand them the keys to this pile in good faith? We don’t think we could!

Hell, below you will see a rear interior shot of the trucklet. Look at the welds on the “roll cage” They were gobbed masses of boogers, some of which are actually rusting through the white paint! For those of you playing at home, that is VERY BAD. In the one photo of the front axle it appears one of the wheel studs isn’t even pressed in all the way. Egads!

We’re not usually ones to call for the complete and utter destruction of a vehicle, especially one that has been hot rodded, but this little rolling disaster area needs to be squashed…and fast.

In the photos I enjoyed the look of the custom weld job. Looks like a bird flew over and Shatt on it. YUP! I feel safe

The seller states it has a “role” cage.

What role other than having weight and occupying space does it play?

idk man, you can save a lot of money welding by using Wrigley’s gum instead… and they do come in a lot of tasty flavors.. Why so negative with your lack of thriftiness? 😀

Coilovers? Where? I see a coil spring OVER an axle, ON TOP OF a six inch chunk of square tube, the hillbilly lift kit du jour. I can’t believe he didn’t manage to work in some #40 roller chain somewhere into this dandy. Maybe it’s holding down the fuel cell. But more likely a bungee cord.

At least everything is painted white so you can easily witness the horror. Tho I’m shocked they didn’t go with the more obvious and stylish option of blaze orange or neon green for all the accoutrements. Somebody doing that level of advanced fab with their VatoZone mig welder usually care enough to showcase that stuff in eye-popping spray bomb.

On the other hand, I can squint to see potential.

You could just spray on some “faux-tina” and claim its a “rat pro-streeter.” (it’s not really much more dangerous than many of the “rat rods” that get magazine ink)

    OR . . .

Rip out the poor Dubble Bubble “role” cage and the wheezy-junk 305. Install a proper tube axle in forward, altered wheelbase position. Jack it up all around and get a hint of “meat” hanging out of the rear fenders (forget the pro-street style police). Maybe move the rear axle forward a few inches. Drop in a proper blown or injected mountain motor with a medusa of fenderwell headers. Lose the aero-snorkle and the front bumper . . . Slice a cut out of the geeky top, for more of 1/3-2/3rds proportion. Add some ’60s-inspired safety touches . . . Dump the wheels for some cast “mags.” . . . “Instant” NEO-GEO GASSER!

Anyone else seeing it? Anyone? Anyone?

I think I share your sickness. In a weird way, this thing has potential if you blow it apart and do it right.

yeiks. Why the front axle the Geo/Sidekick front end stuff is good and light, ohnot to mention it has brakes on it. Black grill = wreck on a Sidekick. Man and I generally like sidekicks but not this one.

Buy it now, cool… Drag Week, here I come!

Oh, wait, theyre already full up. dammit.

  8. As is

Consider this Geo a full scale model kit.
If someone you knew built this as a scale model and built the replica as an accurate interpretation of what “this” is and represents, you’d never visit them again and you’d laugh at them.
