We were tipped off to another interesting tidbit that has come up for sale on eBay, the George Barris Kustoms built Tastee Freez T-bucket. If you’re wondering what the hell a Tastee Freez is, wonder no more. It’s a fast food company that began with two guys who essentially invented soft serve ice cream. They commissioned Barris to build a publicity car that could be used around the country.

Barris built the car in 1966 at a cost of $20,000. Interestingly it is built atop an actual 1914 Model T frame, and power came from a DeSoto Hemi. The same motor is in the car today, but as you can see in the photo below, it once sported three blower cases stacked on top of another, adding to its comedic genius in the 1970s.

Every bone in our gearhead body wants to start tearing this thing to shreds, but for some reason we just can’t. The weirdo themed rods of Barris and Ed Roth normally drive us up a wall, and normally that’s because they take themselves too seriously, but this thing, it’s like a rolling cartoon and as much as we want to hate it, we can’t.

Maybe it’s the big agricultural tires on the back or the gigantic cheeseburger between the rear tires, but we find ourselves smiling when we look at the ad and the photos attached to it. There’s not a chance in freaking hell that we’d ever pay $30,000 even if we were billionaires, but this car would be perfectly at home in a car museum with some of the other odd stuff that rolled out of custom shops back in the day.

The car appears to be dead nuts original and aside from some paint flaking off the roof, the damned thing looks as though it rolled out of the Barris shop last week.

Are we sniffing glue or is this car appealing in some oddly fun way?
