Epic Thread: Check Out One of the Largest and Coolest Collections of Stuff We Have Ever Seen

We got tipped off to a pretty amazing thread on the massive off road message board Pirate 4×4. Before you stop reading and write this off as something about big trucks, do yourself a favor and click the link below. The condensed story is that a member’s father passed away, leaving two acres of machinery, cars, trucks, tractors, lathes, WHOLE TRACTOR TRAILERS full of blocks, heads, and parts, etc. At this point, the thread is about 20 pages long and each page has loads of cool junk on it.

The guy who accumulated all this assorted coolness was one serious hot rodder. There are all kinds of projects in the collection including a lakester that the poster claims was run at Bonneville at some point. It always amazes us at how many killer cars and parts are quietly waiting to be found. Logic would dictate that there are hundreds, if not thousands of collections like this around the country just waiting to be exposed. The key is to prevent them from simply being scrapped as people become less and less interested/ in tune with both the historical and monetary value of vintage parts and equipment are.

Hit the link below to check the thread out and take you time going through it. We guarantee that your jaw will hit the floor a couple of times before you are through all 20+ pages.

Now that is a lot of cool stuff, but what good is it to get old and die with 20+ semi trailers of cool stuff mixed with junk on a lot that the city want to seize for zoning violations. The daughters who inherited all that stuff seem to have also inherited there dads inability to part with anything. Someone suggests that ebay something. “oh, no, eaby charges too much”. Someone suggests that they call an auctioneeer. “oh no, they charge 30%”.

The man spend 50 years hauling stuff home and stashing the stuff. It take longer to sell something than to buy something when you advertise and sell one peice at a time. They could spend 100 years going thru trailers trying to figure out how to get top dollar for each peice. They really need to call a good auctioneer, who specializes in stuff like this, and get it over with. Quit worrying about wringing every last cent out of every part. The auction will determine a fair value. JMO, Joel
