Friday was gray and gloomy, but Saturday was nothing short of gorgeous at Beech Bend Raceway, with warm temperatures, cool breezes, and a huge turnout of show cars and race cars. In fact, there was only one hitch to the entire day: shortly after I had left the track for the night on Friday, I woke up an old back injury and by Saturday morning, I looked like Quasimodo holding a camera. Not a good place to be in when there’s still hundreds of cars to go shoot photos of. Luckily my wife was free to come with me to the track to help me out, so we made a day of it. As she walked (and I hobbled like around like Gollum with a twisted ankle) we visited with Rodney Prouty and Suzy Bauter in the autocross, Troy Wilson at the Nostalgia Drag Racing League trailer, and the folks at Ford Performance.
