Auction Find: The Estate Sale of Roger Jones, Sr. In Oklahoma

Auction Find: The Estate Sale of Roger Jones, Sr. In Oklahoma

Ron Ward gets the credit for locating the first big auction of 2015 in Oklahoma. Roger Jones, Sr., from Pryor, Oklahoma, was apparently a life-long gear head of sorts and had accumulated quite the collection of vehicles, parts, magazines, and trinkets over the years leading up to his passing. Now, those items are going up for auction on February 12, 2015 and while stuff like the furniture and some of the toys might not catch your eye, check out some of the vehicles that are going to be auctioned off (and keep in mind, this is a small sample!):

hudson

Hudson Hornet

chevelle

1964 Chevy El Camino

dodge truck

Early 1960’s Dodge

falcon

Falcon Convertible

turnpike

Mercury…Montclair? Turnpike Cruiser? There’s at least three of these things in the photos!

This isn’t like the Lambrecht Chevrolet auction where the cars were low-mile and just sat. These cars all appear to be used, the majority of the rides are between the early 1950s and the mid 1960s, though there’s older cars and parts available, such as steel 1930s Ford parts and a early 1980s Subaru coupe. Some of the parts on the rougher vehicles, such as the Hudson’s chrome and the Plymouth wagon’s grille, are nearly impossible to find. Take a look through the auction listing and pictures and see for yourself!

am I the only one sickened by these auctions the old man spent his life collecting this stuff and once he dies the family could care less way to respect your loved ones memory

That might depend on your perspective of the situation. I am a Hot Rodder myself and I love antques but I wouldn’t want to have to deal with all this stuff basicly thrown into my lap. I couldn’t. I would pick a car or two out of there and some stuff I wanted and then have an auction to sell this stuff to people that want it and can or will do something with it. Better to distribute the stuff to people that want it than to continue to let it rot away.

What a great collection. I wish I had inherited that collection . There’s some very unique cars in there, and the rest of the stuff is cool too (ok the rusty ceiling fans aren’t )

That early 60s Dodge on a Dakota Frame and a Late Model Hemi and Nag tranny would be one hell of a cruiser

Some neat stuff there. I like that Olds and the big ass white Mercury. Lots of other neat stuff. The guy probably just got too old to take care of all that stuff. Its too bad.

Unfortunately too many collections like this rot into the ground because some cratchety old collector wont sell.

There are some very cool cars in the collection. Luckily I only live 75 miles away from where the auction is being held. I will be going any maybe come home with something interesting. I hope most of the cars and stuff find a good home and not the scrap pile.
