Autocross Gallery: Shots From The 2016 Goodguys 5th Nostalgia Nationals’ Autocross Course!

The leaves are piling up on the ground, but we aren’t packing up the fun just yet! The Goodguys crew have come to Bowling Green, and weather be damned, the cars are out and running hard. We will have shots from the show field and the dragstrip later on this week, but first off we have to lead with the autocross. Utilizing the entire area of Beech Bend Raceway’s circle track, the autocross is technical enough to be a challenge, but has sections where the cars can build up a serious head of steam before they have to drill the brakes and come to a complete stop. There’s plenty of the usual suspects in the field, including RideTech’s 48 Hour Camaro and Corvette and Al Unser, Jr’s Camaro, but there is also the absolutely bitchin’ International Scout (yeah, you read that right), an LS-swapped Opel GT, a couple Chevrolet trucks, a mid-engined LS-swapped Corvair, and to top it off, a second-gen Camaro…on BFGoodrich T/A radials and simple mag wheels. And it’s putting in just as much work! Click on a photo below to check out the corner carvers!

  1. Max

These Goodguys autocrosses have some incredible cars show up and participate but some of these courses have some light poles, concrete barriers and concrete walls awfully close to corners and I see plenty of pictures of drivers and passengers without helmets and with arm out the passenger window. Worse yet is the pictures of unpadded rollbars and a driver with no helmet but passenger with one or the Cobra driver with no helmet and classic roll hoop. These are a serious injury waiting to happen. Be safe while having fun. A car can roll at 18MPH in the right circumstance so speed isn’t an issue.
