Lambos, Muscle Cars, Panteras, and More From Cars and Coffee Cruise In Dallas

Cars and Coffee Dallas Mecum Edition 023 Cars and Coffee Dallas Mecum Edition 009(Words and Photos by Kaleb Kelley)

The first Saturday of every month at the crack of dawn, automotive enthusiasts of all kings converge at one place; Cars and Coffee. Classic BMW in Plano hosts this event every month and clears out their parking lot to host this awesome meet. I’m mostly a classic domestic guy, but I admit that I do enjoy the occasional WRX or Supra. This meet is really cool, but not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s hilarious how often you hear some people dogging on other cars there. The import guys talk about trash about the muscle cars that can’t turn a corner. Then you hear the muscle cars retaliating and saying “Stupid ricers,” or “Asian junk.” It’s honestly hilarious watching the guys that are so biased to their car’s niche.

I’m biased, but I can appreciate the time and effort that anyone puts into their car even if it is not my style. The AWD system on Subaru’s is just awesome, the driving balance of the E46 M3 is one of my favorites as well, but I would take a classic Mopar over one any day. There’s something about an old car that just gives you a different feeling than a new car. That’s just my opinion though. I plan to bring it all together with my car and find a way to appeal to everybody. It’ll still be a muscle car, but with the Hotchkis suspension it will impress many import owners. The car culture is all about doing what you like to your car, not what everybody else wants you to do to your car.
Regardless of some of the animosity that people have, it is still a fun meet. I cannot wait to drive my Scamp into the show and see if everybody looks. On the left side of the entrance is the Mustang guys, then the JDM guys, then the Subaru guys; on the right side, is the corvette guys, modern mopar guys, and classic car guys. I want to drive in and have people from both sides staring it down as I drive through. I might even be brave enough to go to the far side and park by the exotics, just to ruffle some feathers. If you’d like to go to a meet like this near you, google your state with Cars and Coffee and see if anything shows up. They’re fun meets, but not everyone’s cup of tea. You’ll never know until you try it out! Here are some pictures from the show to give you a taste.

What is really amazing is the car count. On average there are 1200 cars on the lot. If your not there by 6:45 AM you can get in.
