Cool Fenderless Hot Rods At Goodguys Del Mar – Less Fenders Means More Coolness

Cool Fenderless Hot Rods At Goodguys Del Mar – Less Fenders Means More Coolness

It is one of the few looks that has never gone out of style for hot rods and probably never will. Back at the dawn of hot rodding, guys figured out that they could pull the fenders off of their cars and they’d go faster at the dry lakes and at the drags. Shedding the weight and the frontal area that was trying to push through the wind helped their little flathead V8s to make bigger speeds and get to the finish line first. This had another benefit in that it made the cars look really cool and tough. For nearly 100 years, fenderless hot rods have been cool and 100 years from now, when BangShift operates off of its own corporate island drag strip in the Bahamas, it will still look cool.

This gallery isn’t comprised of ALL the fenderless hot rods at the show, but it is made up of about 30 cars that caught our eye for various reasons. Every one of them has something to make it different from the rest and that’s the best part of the whole deal, standing out in a crowd.
