(Photos courtesy of Impala SS Club of America) – While Chad and I were at Bonneville, the Impala SS Club of America was having their national meet at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. This event drew B-body GM fans from all over the country to come and participate in events ranging from a police escorted cruise to the NASCAR hall of fame to autocrossing, drag racing, and even road racing on the course at CMS. The event was a smashing success and we’ve heard nothing but great things from people who were there. I remember going to some of the Pontiac club meets when I was a kid with m family and it was always cool to see so many enthusiasts into the same thing as we were in one place. The same goes for this deal. Had I been around, I would have really liked to have been there with Buford as this event is open to B-bodies (and D-bodies) of all eras although it is dominated by the 1991-1996 style cars.
You’ll see Chevys, Buicks, Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles, wagons, and sedans getting crazy, getting polished, and getting sideways in all the different facets of this event. The guys are running a drag race in early November in Atlanta and they’ve graciously invited me and Buford but once again a scheduling conflict (with some small event called SEMA) has interrupted those plans.
I’m glad to see all of these guys and girls pounding on the last cool full-sized RWD car that GM made. I know that I love my car and these folks clearly love theirs. Hit the link below to see a ton of great photos from the event!
