As famous as Speed Week at Bonneville is, Land Speed Racers from far and wide flock to El Mirage California several times each year to compete on the famed dry lake. The SCTA El Mirage Dry Lakes Races are held 6 times each year, and are some of the toughest racing conditions anyone has ever faced. Getting into the 200 mph Club at El Mirage is something that even Bonneville 200 mph Club members dream of. This month’s race at El Mirage was the final round of the 2013 SCTA season, and was the last chance to win the El Mirage Championship or get your name in the record book for next year.

Tons of cars showed up, as usual, and ranged from stock bodied production record machines to full blown streamliners like the Ferguson Family Racing machine we love so much. No matter what you bring, or who’s record you are trying to beat, all the racers at El Mirage are ultimately working together to beat the dirt. It’s evil. It’s like talcum powder. It sticks to everything. It offers no traction. It does everything it can to beat you. It lost that fight at the November SCTA El Mirage Meet because all these cars and trucks we have photos of conquered the dirt in one form or fashion.
