More Coverage From The 2016 Redneck Rumble! Rods, Rats, And Rumbling Eights Aplenty!

There is nothing like hearing an Oldsmobile engine with a huge cam prowling at near-idle, with the occasional blip of the throttle (and resulting bark of protest from the tires) to break up the quiet of a car show. Except maybe the supercharged Hemi as it whines, or the flathead Ford as it burbles out of the duals. Or any number of the hot-rodded former semi-tractors that were now low, chopped and menacing. The 2016 Redneck Rumble spring show in Lebanon, Tennessee was hallowed grounds for fans of older vehicles, with only a handful of 1970 or newer cars within the gates. Walking around the fairgrounds offered up tasty bites of all sorts: an absolutely stunning bathtub Chrysler, a two-seater Thunderbird that looked more like a street fighter than a pastel-colored show queen, Schwinn Stingrays seemingly everywhere, restored and ready to ride, beautiful Indian motorcycles, even a clean 1963 Chevrolet Impala lowrider. We nosed around in the swap meet tables, where everything from toy cars, to old license plates, to dealership badges spanning decades could be found, and walked the rows of cars, looking at the details. On the whole, there was plenty to see, but if you took a moment and really paid attention, that’s when the details would come out.
