PRI 2012 – A Gallery Of Cool and Classic Mopar Race Cars

One last gallery from the 2012 PRI show today and this one is for all the fans of Ma Mopar! Having been to this show a couple of times now, we know that there is always neat stuff lurking at the back end of the convention hall and this year that neat stuff included a great collection of Chrysler race cars. There are a bunch of historic drag cars, a totally bitchin’ Challenger stock car, and a Plymouth powered dirt modified. There is some unwritten BangShift law that when we see a gathering of early Pro Stock cars like the late Don Carlton’s Mopar Missile, The Sox and Martin ‘Cuda, a Herb McCandless machine as well as a couple of Landy’s Pro Stockers that we have to pull them apart from the crowd and make their own special photo gallery. They deserve it!

Hit the link below to see some of the most famed and feared Chrysler drag machines of all time.

The Sox and Martin Cuda is one of my all-time favorite Pro Stock along side Grumpy’s Toy 72 Vega. Having models of both car don’t hurt either!

Trivia Alert! Trivia Alert! I had an old magazine that did an article or had an advertisement showing the Mopar Missile launching off the starting line with the wheels about 1/2 a foot off the ground. I noticed in the picture the car had a cable or wire of some sort that came out of the middle of one of the front wheel spindles and came around the outside and went back into the wheel well. To this day I could never figure out what that was. Can any BS brainiacs out there tell me???

The Dodge Challenger is a true classic. An American beauty without a doubt! Smooth, sexy and everlasting. It’s a must-have car if you’re a classic car collector.
