It was 4:30 am when I rolled up to Crosby’s shop with Skid Row playing Slave to the Grind at 11 so as to wake myself up. With only a couple hours sleep it wasn’t a pleasure hearing my alarm clock on Sunday morning. Why the hell was I up this early? Well it wasn’t just for Crosby’s sparkling personality and witty banter! Nope, it was Pomona Swap Meet day! And if you want to get into the Pomona Swap Meet without wanting to kill people in line, going really early is the key. Plus, it’s tradition to start your shopping in the dark.

It was foggy and misty when we got parked, and yet the temp was around 70 already at 5am. This was going to be a nice day for sure. And it was. The crowd started off slow, probably waiting for the cloud cover to burn off, and Crosby and I walked every single isle of the swap meet. We never did make it to the car corral as we were actually looking for parts. Crosby bought some, I bought some fun stuff but not the stuff I wanted. In fact, we both were disappointed when we found parts on the same isle and decided we would come back later in the day. We did, only to find that the stuff we were both ready to buy had been sold. Oh well, it wasn’t meant to be.
