Awesome Historic Photos From New England Dragway – Classic Garlits, Sportsman Cars, Etc

This weekend is the 2017 NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. Because to that we’re back with another installment of bad ass photos from the 1970s. These were taken at New England Dragway in 1974 at the AHRA Grand American race and the Fall Funny Car Nationals, which was a 32-car fuel flopper match race that people still talk about with amazing levels of respect and love to this day. In this gallery we’ll see shots of both Don Garlits’s car and the ol’ Swamp Rat himself sitting next to his right hand man, TC Lemons as they wait to run at NED. You’ll see Jungle Jim and the Alabamian funny car showing how a proper burnout is done (the cloud may still be circulating in the atmosphere), additionally you’ll see some photos of the car we think stands as one of the most beautiful dragsters ever built and it was owned by Tommy Ivo.

On top of that are some truly cool photos featuring sportsman cars, a t-bucket death trap that looks like it is hauling down the track pretty well, an awesomely 1970s panel truck with a clear plastic hood, and a whole bunch more. There’s nothing else we can add but to beg you to click the link below and take a photographic journey to the early 1970s and one of the most rollicking times in the great history of drag racing. Bob Boudreau….you are the man!
