(Photos from the BangShift Archive) – Every time we run one of these galleries that we make from our vast collection of photos in the archive people go most nuts about the engine galleries. Knowing that, I decided to get a little more specific with the photos and do only racing engines this time. Every one of these mills is in a race car that was competing on the salt, at the drags, on a road course, or somewhere else. There are some former race engines in here as well, living in retired race cars. You’ll see blown stuff, turbo stuff, plenty of naturally aspirated stuff, and a few head scratchers that will leave you rubbing your eyes. Thats’s still the beauty of racing in our opinion. No one has figured it all the way out yet and stuff is always evolving, changing, and moving in the direction of “more faster”. I tried to keep this one diverse so there’s Chrysler stuff, a Lincoln motor, Fords, GM engines, and even a little Lotus four banger that Nutting and I spied at the ALMS race at Lime Rock back in 2012. Inliners, V8s, V6s and some stuff that is tough to even define roll this collection out. All BangShifty….all the time!

Let me know how I did and what the next “specialty” gallery should be themed on? I like making them and combing through the old photos. It is like a walk down memory lane. Our contributors are so cool and diverse, their submissions make these galleries what they are.
